DO NOT INCITE GENDER CONFUSION IN GIRLS
Retire your transgender Barbie
Retire your transgender Barbie
Mattel has just launched its first transgender Barbie. It is a doll in tribute to the LGBTI actress Laverne Cox who turned 50 on May 29.
The executive vice president of the company and global director of Barbie, Lisa McKnight, proudly announced the decision:
"We are proud to highlight the importance of inclusion and acceptance at all ages and to recognize Laverne's significant impact on culture with a collection honoring Barbie."
For her part, Laverne Cox herself has also spoken about the issue on Instagram:
“Now there is a Laverne Cox Barbie doll. Just wow! Thanks to everyone at @mattel for all the love you put into creating it. And thank you for this moment for the trans and lgbtq+ community in truly challenging times, particularly for trans kids. I am deeply honored and hope that this doll will be a beacon of hope and possibility for fans of Barbie and beyond of all ages."
Leave the kids alone!
The transgender Barbie is part of a tribute collection, dolls that represent especially relevant women such as Queen Elizabeth II, Lucile Bad or Vera Wang
It is evident that a transgender Barbie produces gender confusion in the little ones. Exactly what Laverne Cox herself suffered, who admits suicide attempts at age 11. Is that what we want for our little ones?
