A woman has a vagina.
We all know the difference between male and female, but it seems the Cambridge Dictionary does not!
The publishers of this online resource have pandered to wokery and decided to make an unnecessary update to the dictionary, stating that women include those who ‘identify as female even though they may have been said to have been a different sex at birth.’
The same update has been applied to the definition of ‘man’. A man is no longer an adult male but an individual who identifies as one.
Not only that, but the dictionary has been sure to include transgender individuals in examples of how the words can be used, for example:
‘Mary is a woman who was assigned male at birth’ and ‘she was the first trans woman elected to a national office’.
Where does it stop? Are they going to claim that a cat is not only a member of the feline species but also includes any person who identifies as one?!
Those aren’t the only changes the Cambridge Dictionary has made either. Definitions of the words ‘male’ and ‘female’ have also been altered to give a very clumsy example of how these words can be applied to describe transgender individuals.
“She was the school's first trans female athlete.”
If this wasn’t enough, the Cambridge dictionary has also included ‘they/them/their’ pronouns as an example of how to describe both men and women.
"Their doctor encouraged them to live as a man for a while before undergoing surgical transition."
No woke dictionary would be complete without including the nonsensical pronoun ‘ze’, so the Cambridge Dictionary has naturally complied. The dictionary has also referred to the terms ‘male’ and ‘female’ as potentially offensive if they are used outside a scientific context.
Dictionaries are factual reference books which exist to provide clarity. Cambridge University Press was formerly associated with high standards of academic rigour. Words for transgender individuals, such as transman and transwoman, already exist.
Gender ideology is controversial and deeply divisive. Most people already know the difference between men and women. The Cambridge dictionary has no business attempting to politicise language and influencing what people think, especially when this runs contrary to scientific fact and popular mainstream belief.

Furthermore, the definitions of ‘male’ and ‘female’ have both been altered to demonstrate how these words can be used to describe a transgender individual, and the pronoun ‘they’ has been added to describe a woman or man, as well as the normal ‘she’ and ‘he’ terms.
This is a blatant attempt at politicising what ought to be a purely factual reference book. Dictionaries are there to provide clarity and ought to be accurate, especially given their use in schools and education.
Women and men can not ever be described as being a different sex to the one in which they were born. The terms transmen and transwomen already exist to describe individuals who have chosen to present in society as a different sex to the one in which they were born.
This is an Orwellian attempt to control both language and thought in order to break down traditionally accepted definitions of male and female and promote gender ideology to the detriment of society.
Cambridge University Press must ensure that its online dictionary deletes this update and restore the original versions, or risk losing public credibility.
