Tell Doug Ford We Want Tanya!

UPDATE: May 18th, 2018

We recently heard back from Doug Ford regarding our petition. (See below).

While we are heartened to see Mr. Ford standing firm in his commitment to scrap the Wynne-Levin sex ed curriculum, we are saddened by his continued rejection of Tanya. We do not believe he gave her a fair shake.

On the one hand, Mr. Ford says that the PC Party is "inclusive" and welcomes "a variety of diverse perspectives". Then on the other hand, he goes on to say that Tanya's comments were not welcome. By extension, that makes social conservatives feel unwelcome, too. This is a real let-down, and it quashes a lot of the enthusaism and hope many of us had invested in Mr. Ford.

Mr. Ford has disappointed tens of thousands of Ontarians, he has shown himself weak under pressure, and he has demonstrated a willingness to betray a colleague in order to get ahead.

In the corrupt climate of Ontario politics in 2018, this is not a good sign!

If he wants to restore our confidence in him and in the PC party, he needs to make some changes - and do so before election day on June 7th!

Here is the response from Doug Ford regarding our petition campaign:

Doug Ford Response

May 8th, 2018

It was a shocking betrayal that has taken many Ontario voters by surprise. Doug Ford, leader of the Progressive Conservative (PC) party, announced the immediate and unceremonious ousting of Tanya Granic Allen last Saturday, May 5th. Tanya was touted as the “kingmaker” in the PC leadership race in March, having launched Mr. Ford to victory with the help of her social conservative base.

Now Mr. Ford has stated: “Tanya Granic Allen will no longer be a candidate for the Ontario PC Party. We are a party comprised of people with diverse views that if expressed responsibly we would respect. However, the fact is her characterization of certain issues and people has been irresponsible…”

Mr. Ford’s announcement came hastily upon the release of a video on the Ontario Liberal Party web site designed to smear Tanya. The video shows part of a speech she made in 2014 denouncing radical sexual education and same-sex “marriage” in Croatia. According to the liberals, Tanya “spewed hatred and homophobia” in her speech.

What Tanya actually said is that when she sees Croatia “trying to push radical sexualization on the young, or gay marriage, I almost vomit in disbelief.”

This is hardly an attack on any particular person or group. It is simply an expression of disgust over the imposition of radical sex ed and LGBT ideology on young people in Croatia.

Many Ontarians would wholeheartedly agree with Tanya! We have seen the harm and confusion caused by our own province’s liberal sex ed curriculum. Also, we recognize that the legalization of same-sex “marriage” has undermined the rights of children to a normal family life with both a mom and a dad.

In addition, as Christians, we believe that God has called us to stand up for children, for marriage, and for families. When lobbyists and politicians try to pervert these things, we are rightly disgusted.

The liberals have clearly mischaracterized Tanya in order to slander and divide conservatives. With a provincial election looming in less than a month, the governing liberals have a lot to lose. (Maclean’s magazine shows the PCs are well ahead in the latest popular opinion poll.)

Unfortunately, Mr. Ford has fallen into the liberals’ trap. Instead of challenging their slander and standing up for the tried and true Tanya, Mr. Ford has given in to pressure. Even though Tanya just won the PC nomination for Mississauga Centre, soundly defeating three other candidates, her name will not appear on the ballot June 7th.

It is our hope that Mr. Ford will reconsider his decision to oust Tanya. We would like to see him stand up to the lies of Kathleen Wynne and her Liberal party. Tanya deserves the chance to run in Mississauga Centre. She is a woman of integrity, who is passionate and courageous in speaking to the issues that affect families and youth. We need more politicians like her – not fewer!

We Want Tanya!

Dear Mr. Doug Ford,

I am asking you to reinstate Tanya Granic Allen as the rightful PC candidate for Mississauga Centre.

Tanya is a woman of integrity, who is passionate and courageous in speaking to the issues that affect our families and youth in Ontario. We love her and stand up for her.

Her statements against radical sexual education and same-sex “marriage” were mischaracterized by the Liberal party. They slandered her and called her a hater, when in fact she is anything but. It is her care and concern for youth and families in Ontario and around the world that drives her.

We need more candidates like Tanya, not fewer!

Mr. Ford, you made a commitment to integrity in the PC party and its nomination process. We are calling on you to abide by your commitments and allow Tanya to run, as she was nominated to do so, in Mississauga Centre. You need to respect her values and beliefs, and let the people decide, as you said you would do.
