The so-called "hate speech" law just passed by Dáil Éireann represents a severe attack on the freedoms of speech and conscience of everyone residing in Ireland.

Therefore, we must now act urgently to do everything we can to stop this Draconian bill from taking effect.

Please SIGN and SHARE this critical petition to EVERY IRISH SENATOR, imploring that they do their job to safeguard the freedoms of speech and conscience from the rash and dangerous actions Dáil Éireann.

The Incitement to Violence or Hatred Bill 2022 has a very lofty-sounding title, and, of course, actual incitement to violence should be condemned. But, actual incitement to violence should be tackled on a case-by-case basis, using our existing, robust laws.

This new, so-called "hate speech" bill, however, invites the very real possibility of facilitating false accusations against innocent parties, especially people, who, in good conscience, refuse to bow down to the unscientific, reality-bending, and, frankly, false notion of transgenderism that men can ever be women, and vice versa.

And, according to some of the brightest legal minds in Ireland, this bill is particularly bad, as it:

  • Fails to define "hate".
  • Brazenly seeks to include "transgender" as a new gender, which would become a "protected characteristic".
  • Seems to legislate against "thought crimes", where a person could face jail time on suspicion of "preparing or possessing material likely to incite violence or hatred against persons on account of their protected characteristics.”

This is outrageous...and, moreover, it is DANGEROUS to our democratic freedoms.

Please SIGN and SHARE this urgent petition, today!

We have seen this happen in other jurisdictions, where accused parties are considered guilty before having to prove themselves innocent!

And surprise, surprise, these types of laws have been almost exclusively used to harass, intimidate and even imprison men and women of faith (and, none) who will not lie to themselves, or others, about biological facts.

This is not protecting people from "hate", this is protecting them from reality.

This bill should have no place in Irish law! CitizenGO will monitor this bill and report how all Irish Senators vote on this most important issue.

Thank you for joining this urgent campaign, today!

Say No to "Hate Speech" Bill, Stand FOR Freedom of Conscience/Speech

Dear Senator,

The Irish Seanad stands as a bulwark against rash decisions made in Dáil Éireann.

Recently, the Dáil passed a so-called "hate speech" bill which aptly fits this category, and which demands that you consider and oppose this rash decision.

The Bill is so broad and ill-defined that it seems to be designed precisely to allow one group of people to injudiciously clamp-down on the freedom of speech and freedom of conscience of another group of citizens.

Imagine a "hate speech" bill which doesn't define hate. Imagine a "hate speech" bill which envisions prosecuting "thought crimes". Imagine a "hate speech" bill which would legally compel people to acknowledge a scientifically false and outlandish new definition of gender, or face Draconian consequences.

This is dangerous stuff, and must be opposed.

As a Senator, you are, in part, charged with the responsibility to safeguard the Irish public from the legal excesses of the Dáil. This is one of those instances.

I will be watching to see how you vote on this Bill and will be discussing this hugely important matter with my family and friends.

Thank you for acting to preserve the freedoms of speech, thought and conscience. Thank you, in advance, for opposing this dangerous Bill.
