Reunite Furdui family
For Camelia and Petru Furdui and their seven children, the situation is a catastrophe: on April 26, 2021, all 7 children were unexpectedly and abruptly torn from their family environment by employees of the Youth Welfare Office and taken to children's homes. The youngest child, who is just two years old, was placed in foster care.
The Furdui children are described as highly gifted, and perceived by neighbors primarily as a cheerful bunch of children. According to neighbors, there have never been any negative experiences with the family.
Since they were taken into care, the children and their parents have only been allowed to see each other once a week under supervision. But the children consider this being not enough: they want to return to their parents.
And after some of them simply visited their parents at home again and again, the family court at the local court in Walsrode has now withdrawn the custody of the parents by way of a temporary order on February 17, 2022 and appointed the youth welfare office of the Heidekreis as guardian for all the children.
Cord-Heinrich Gruß, the court's deputy director and press spokesman, justified the withdrawal of custody to the media as "endangering the welfare of the children," but refused to give any reasons.
From the authorities' point of view, there is "imminent danger" because the children would have liked to visit their parents at home again and again. The Youth Welfare Office wants to prevent these visits at home by taking over guardianship because, from the authority's point of view, they cause harm to the children.
Shouldn't it be a fundamental right for children to be allowed to have contact with their parents if they wish to have?
Sign the bystanding petition demanding that Deputy Court Director Cord-Heinrich Gruß and District Administrator Jens Grote immediately return custody of their children to the Furdui parents!
The youth welfare office of Heidekreis district represents the point of view in the public that the children would be urged by their parents to visit them and that too frequent meetings of the children with their parents are harmful for the child well-being, because the children would not come to rest.
Yet it is the approach of the Youth Welfare Office that ensures lasting traumatization of the children. Because:
- they were torn away from their parents without prior notice;
- to this day, there is no clearly comprehensible reason for the abrupt removal of the children;
- a deprivation of custody of the parents and the handing over of guardianship to the Youth Welfare Office so that the latter can forbid the children to visit their parents, although they do so of their own accord, is a clearly wrong measure.
We must not leave the Furdui family alone in this situation:
Add your name to the attached petition: demand that Deputy Court Director Cord-Heinrich Gruß and District Administrator Jens Grote immediately return custody of their children to the Furdui parents!
Obviously, the authorities are not interested in a factual and transparent procedure, because in the court hearing in which they were deprived of custody of the children, the parents were not even heard. The decision was made on the grounds of "imminent danger".
But perhaps the parents were deliberately not heard in order to conceal the fact that there were no really weighty reasons for the measure. For the parents are accused above all that they did not sufficiently reflect "their Christian style of education" (whatever that may mean exactly).
The accusation that the parents "did not sufficiently reflect on their Christian style of education" shows that the Youth Welfare Office is obviously acting for ideological reasons that are directed against an upbringing of children based on Christian values.
We must not allow this, because if ideologically biased authority employees remain successful with their actions in the case of the Furdui family, this will send out a completely wrong signal, which is likely to lead to increased official attacks on Christian families.

P.S. In the meantime, there have been 25 demonstrations worldwide against the children being taken into custody, and politicians from Romania have also gotten involved.
For March 21, 2022 is a court hearing in which a possible return of custody to the parents will be decided.
