With the dramatic rise in youth identifying as transgender, we are now seeing an equally dramatic and alarming rate of those who regret their “transition” and the lack of comprehensive evidence-based care they should have received.

AFFIRMATION GENERATION, an original documentary film (90 min), is the first non-political, non-religious feature documentary examining the current medical practices of “trans youth health care”.

AFFIRMATION GENERATION features the stories of six “detransitioned” men and women, plus interviews with ten leading experts who discuss the harms of cross-sex hormones and invasive surgeries as a “cure” for gender dysphoria. Their observations are based on decades of clinical practice, with numerous links to peer-reviewed medical articles examining the medical, psychological, and social harm of the “gender-affirming care” model for vulnerable youth.

These stories of desistance or detransition help us understand critical flaws in the current US “Affirmative Care” model and a push to medicalize vs. celebrate gender non-confirming youth.
