Latin America's Pro-Life Laws Are Under Attack: Your Help is Needed!

Latin America is one of the few regions of the world where preborn children are consistently recognized in law as having the right to life from conception.

Yet the radicals on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) completely ignore the right to life of the child and use their official position to try to strong-arm Latin American countries into legalizing abortion.

The arrogance and brazenness of the commissioners seems to know no bounds.  Just today, the Commission issued an official press release in honor of the International Women's Day calling on states "to adopt urgent measures to ensure that the sexual and reproductive rights of women in the Americas are respected."  Among those "measures" are "emergency health services during a pregnancy..." for  "women [who] find themselves forced to continue pregnancies that put their lives at risk or that are a result of rape, because in several countries in the region abortion is criminalized under any circumstance."

WHAT ABOUT THE GIRLS BEING KILLED BY ABORTION?

WHAT ABOUT THE WOMEN WHO SUFFER LIFE-LONG PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURIES DUE TO ABORTION?

The IACHR, states that a reason for promoting the legalization of abortion is maternal health, but recent studies, including one very recent one in the prestigious British Medical Journal, show the exact opposite.  Studies in Chile and Mexico show that abortion does not improve maternal health.  In fact, the factors that are shown to improve maternal health have nothing to do with abortion, and everything to do with improving the prenatal care, education, sanitation, etc.

The IACHR is literally sacrificing the health of women and children in Latin America to a fetus-phobic radical ideology which has the commissioners and the OAS hostage.

Tell the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to stop promoting abortion and instead focus on actually improving the human rights conditions of Latin American women!

Sign this petition and an email will be sent to the OAS demanding that they stop promoting radical agendas and instead focus on protecting real human rights.

Dear OAS:

We the Pro-Life people of the America's have a lot of questions for you:

Why is the IACHR attacking Latin America's Pro-Life Laws?

Isn't the IACHR supposed to implement the American Convention on Human Rights (ACHR)?

Doesn't Article 1.1 of the ACHR require an "obligation to respect rights" of every person?

Doesn't Article 1.2 clearly state that "person means every human being?"

Doesnt' Article 4.1 also clearly state that "Every person has the right to have his life respected," and that  "This right shall be protected by law and, in general, from the moment of conception," so that "no one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life?"

How is it possible then, for the Commission - which states that it "derives its mandate from the OAS Charter and the American Convention on Human Rights" - to completely ignore the right to life of the very people it is called upon to protect?

Why does the commission think that a child conceived in rape should be put to death, while it opposes the death penalty for even the most brutal criminals?

As you can see, we have a lot of questions.  We are concerned that the Commission is hostage to ideological factions which don't represent our principles or those of the Inter-American System.  We plan on calling our local governments to ask them to stop funding the Commission if it insists upon this current ideological crusade.

We hope the commission will correct its current course without having to lose funding because of political and ideological battles.
