Support Archbishop Cordileone in San Francisco
Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of San Francisco has been an outspoken defender of the Catholic belief that marriage should be between one man and one woman. His comments are often considered "controversial," and 100 of his critics recently invested in a full-page ad in the San Francisco Chronicle asking Pope Francis to replace Archbishop Cordileone with someone more accepting of non-Catholic teaching regarding human sexuality.
What supposedly "controversial" comment did Cordileone make to spur on this attack? He simply proposed that Catholic school teachers should stick to the Catholic teaching about human sexuality.
Archbishop Cordileone rightfully believes that Catholic school teachers should stick to Catholic doctrine in Catholic schools. Despite this, 100 so-called "Catholic leaders" want him to be punished for upholding Catholic teaching.
In this petition, we ask the Pope's representative in the United States to let him know that the "100 Catholic Leaders" in San Francisco do not speak for all of us.
We are ordinary people of all walks of life, all religious backgrounds, and all over the world. We value the Archbishop's moral leadership. Please keep him in San Francisco.
