Dr. Paul Church, a urologist on the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) staff in Boston for nearly 30 years and a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty, is being targeted by BIDMC's administration for taking a stand against the hospital's unhealthy promotion of homosexual behaviors.
A special appeal panel at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston has now upheld the hospital administration’s earlier claim that a physician’s statements to colleagues and staff about the dangers of homosexuality constitute “discrimination,” “harassment,” and “unprofessional conduct,” and that Bible verses regarding homosexuality are similarly “offensive” and discriminatory.
Dr. Church needs your support now more than ever.
On Oct. 7th, Dr. Church will make a final appeal to an Appellate Review Panel convened by the chair of the Board of Directors. The Appellate Review Panel will present its recommendation to the Board who will then determine, once and for all, Dr. Church's fate. We have petitioned the President and CEO of Beth Israel. Now we are petitioning the Board.
The Board of Directors needs to hear us loud and clear: That we stand by Dr. Church, and that we won't tolerate his dismissal.
This may be his last stand; the fate of his career lies in the Board of Director's hands.

Greetings,
I am writing to express my concern over Beth Israel's attempt to expel Dr. Paul Church from its staff. Dr. Church is an experienced urologist and has been part of Beth Israel's staff for nearly 30 years. The administration at Beth Israel is attempting to expel him under false harassment claims for discussing high-risk sexual behaviors with fellow doctors. This is completely unacceptable. As it stands, BIDMC is putting politics over patient care and feelings over facts. This must stop immediately.
Currently, Dr. Church is appealing the decision. I strongly urge the Board of Directors to reverse the decision of the Medical Executive Committee and keep Dr. Church on your staff at Beth Israel.
If an esteemed hospital will not allow the truth to be told with regard to medical concerns, where can a patient go for accurate information? Hospitals tell patients the truth all the time about less controversial issues, such as smoking and diet. Why should high-risk sexual conduct be treated any differently?
I demand that the Board of Directors reinstate Dr. Church and ensure that the hospital's administration stops harassing him. His integrity and career demand nothing less than your full respect.
