Urge the Romanian Senate to Imitate the Chamber, Voting to Define Marriage as between one man and one woman
Congratulate landslide victory in Romanian Chamber of Deputies, defining marriage as between a man and a woman!
Congratulate landslide victory in Romanian Chamber of Deputies, defining marriage as between a man and a woman!

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies has thunderously fulfilled their role as "representatives of the people" of Romania in their landslide vote in favour of amending the Constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman!
The vote, taken just a few days ago, on 9 May, sent shockwaves thoughout Europe, as 232 deputies voted in FAVOUR of the amendment, while only 22 voted AGAINST, with 16 abstentions/null votes.
This historic vote comes as a result of last year's Citizens' Initiative, in which 3M Romanian citizens demanded their right to change the Romanian Constitution to give effect to their deeply held belief that marriage should be reserved to one man and one woman.
Specifically, the revised Article 48, Par. 1, of the Romanian Constitution, which the Chamber of Deputies overwhelmingly supported, was proposed by the Citizens' Initiative, and states: "The family is founded on the freely consented marriage between a man and a woman, their full equality and the right and duty of parents to ensure the upbringing, education and instruction of children."
Now, the Romanian Senate must vote the same way in order to vindicate the right of the Romanian voters to finally ratify this amendment by popular referendum.
Therefore, this petition does two things: 1) It CONGRATULATES the Chamber of Deputies for their vote to enshrine the natural family in the Romanian Constitution; and, 2) Calls on the Romanian Senate to quickly do the same - so as to give the people the right to a referendum on this most fundamental of matters.
Thank you for signing this urgent petition!
