Help save two-year-old boy, hospital threatens to pull life support
On May 11th the court will decide on the fate of two-year-old baby Israel Stinson. A California hospital is threatening to pull life support from baby Israel claiming that he is “brain dead.” For now, a district judge has issued a restraining order preventing the hospital from ending his life. Baby Israel's life is in danger. Please sign now, we only have 5 days to be his voice for life.
The hospital is violating the right to life of the patient and ignoring the wishes of the parents.
Please urge the court to protect Israel’s life and urge Kaiser Permanente Medical Center to respect the wishes of his parents! Israel’s heart is beating and he is responding to the touch of his mother and father. His life is precious and every attempt to save him should be made. Please stand with his parents in asking that life support be sustained!
A month ago Israel suffered an extreme asthma attack that landed him in the emergency room. His doctors at UC Davis put him on life support and encouraged his parents that their son would pull through. About a week later, Israel was transferred to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.
24 hours after receiving Israel, the hospital told his parents they planned to remove life support and declared Israel “brain dead.” The hospital refuses to give Israel nutrients or treatments.
They claim that they do not treat or feed “brain dead” patients and that Israel’s parents no longer have the ability to stop the hospital from ending his life. Sign the petition and be the voice for Israel and his family. They need your help.
On Monday, District Judge Kimberly Mueller issued a restraining order to the hospital preventing them from pulling Israel’s life support until May 11. On May 11, Israel’s parents will argue their case in federal court to get Israel a feeding tube, ventilator, vitamins and thyroid medication. They hope to move him to a hospital in New Jersey which would be willing to treat and care for Israel.
Dr. Paul Byrne, an expert in traumatic brain injury, a board-certified neonatologist, pediatrician, and Clinical Professor, visited Israel and examined his medical records. He says that Israel is alive and that he has treated patients declared “brain dead” who have regained consciousness and gone on to live full lives.
"If it was your child, what would you do? We're actually doing everything we can do as parents, also as Christians. Our belief is to put this in God's hands and that's what we're basically doing," Israel’s father Nate said.
In the past week, Israel has shown improvement. Israel responds to his mother’s voice, took breaths on his own, and even lifted his arm. The hospital, however, refuses to back down and is fighting to remove Israel’s life support. Please urge the hospital to change their decision and urge the court to protect Israel’s young life!
