Violence erupts in Pakistan after the execution of Mumtaz Qadri

A few weeks ago, Pakistani authorities executed Mumtaz Qadri, murderer of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer. Governor Taseer was assassinated because of his stand, defending Asia Bibi - the Christian woman wrongly convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to death.
However, since Qadri's execution, the climate of violence in Pakistan has grown substantially, as shown by two attacks against Christians, one in a park and the other at a school, on Easter Sunday.
And now, in some Pakistani mosques, hateful statements against Asia Bibi have, again, started to surface.
Recently, the authorities of the Red Mosque in Islamabad, one of the largest mosques in the city, and one that promotes a radical vision of Islam, stated the following in a press release (directed at the Government of Pakistan): "Carry out the death sentence on the blasphemous Asia Bibi as soon as possible, and do not give in to international pressure [to spare her life]."
Of course, all of us are part of this "international pressure," working hard to see that Asia Bibi is soon released from prison!
And, we are doing everything possible to publicise the case of Asia Bibi, challenging policy at various levels, and raising awareness of Western public opinion.
We're doing this with our signatures, with the documentary film, "Freedom for Asia Bibi," produced by CitizenGO, and with many other means.
During the funeral of Qadri, in Rawalpindi, the ancient capital of Pakistan, one hundred thousand people accompanied the coffin, shouting slogans of hatred against Asia Bibi and Christians.
The current situation is very highly-charged, and it has already produced the recent tragic events alluded to above, and is likely to get worse still.
With this petition, launched together with our Spanish sister organization, HazteOir.org, we are asking Pakistani President, Mamnoon Hussain, to do everything possible to safeguard the security of Asia Bibi.
As you know, Asia Bibi cannot leave prison for fear of reprisals by radical Islamic groups (which consider Qadri a hero), as well as the bounty that has been put on her head by some violent Islamic leaders.
For five years, Asia Bibi has stayed alive by mobilizing all of us. We will continue to raise our voice for justice, human dignity and religious freedom, as long as Asia is not free and able to live safely.
Thank you for signing this petition.
