While staying in Iraq with the #HelpForIraq Expedition, CitizenGO had many, many conversations with Christians and Yazidis. We sat with Bishops, priests, monks and ordinary people of different ages, and we listened to their concerns, their needs, and their requests.

The biggest concern that people - especially the relatives of persecuted minorities - have, there, is the fear of being forgotten by the world community. That is precisely why they were so pleased and grateful for our visit...as well as the fact that we brought material assistance with us.

The biggest request from the Iraqi people, especially from the Christians and the Yazidis, was a request for prayer. How often did we hear: "Please pray for us, for safety, for a good future. Please pray that we can soon return to our towns and villages, and to our homes, from which we had to flee for fear of the so-called Islamic State. Please pray that we can live there again in safely, and not be persecuted. Pray, pray, pray!"

We encourage you to please give a little of your time for the oppressed Christians, Yazidis and all the religious minorities in the Middle East, and pray for them. For peace, security, and to ensure a bright future.

This petition is launched to show the oppressed Christians, Yazidis, and other persecuted people, that they are not forgotten.

If you wish, you can also include a personal message in signing this petition. We will refer these messages, along with the list of signatories, to the Bishops, priests, and other ministers of the Christian communities in northern Iraq, as well as to representatives of the Yazidis, and assure as many members of the oppressed minorities of your prayers and your genuine sympathy.

Thank you for signing.

Christians and Religious Minorities in the Middle East: We stand by you. You are not alone!

Dear Christians, Yazidis and other religious minorities in Iraq, Syria and the entire Middle East:

I have heard that you often have the feeling of being alone and abandoned, amidst all of the persecution and distress that have you suffered and continue to suffer. Forgotten by the world community.

But, you are not alone. You are not forgotten. I think of you and I pray for you. I pray that your suffering may soon be over, and that you can soon return to your villages and towns, and to your homes - from which you had to flee, for fear of the so-called Islamic State.

And, once home, I also pray that you can live in peace there.

I think of you and I pray for you. And, I know that others think of you and pray for you! I hope the many notes of encouragement help you to endure the current hardships, in the hope of a brighter future.
